About the Artist
My name is Sabrina LaCroix. I am a self-taught artist from the Black Hills of South Dakota, working under the name The Masked Marion.
My art career grew from the pandemic and a fortunate inheritance of my grandfather’s sheet music collection. I found my way to painting at Age 40
since 2020 I’ve been building a body of work that blends music, memory, & portraiture in a way that feels deeply personal.
I choose sheet music as my canvas because music holds emotion in a way words often can’t. The pages already carry history & rhythm & By pairing songs with carefully chosen images, I create work where sound & image meet, inviting memory, curiosity, & emotion.
Using primarily alcohol ink, I work through a balance of saturation, lifting, and layering to create softness & depth. Many of my subjects are musicians, memorial portraits, pets, burlesque and drag performers.
I also explore diversity In representation in my erotic art Series “Tangled Sheets”
recently I have expanded into mural work.
My work has been shown in Las Vegas, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, San Francisco, and Seattle, where it received recognition at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. No matter the size or subject, my goal is always the same: to invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and recognize something familiar that stirs curiosity, emotion, and connection.
